Nathro Hill wind farm: MOD objection removed

Nathro Hill wind farm: MOD objection removed
December 10, 2013 Amy Sudbury

The Ministry of Defence (MOD) have withdrawn their objection regarding the Nathro Hill wind farm in Angus, Scotland.

The concern: wind farm radar interference

The application for the 17 turbine, 61MW capacity wind farm sparked defence officials concern due to impact on the radar systems at RAF Leuchars. Since objections like these have the potential to delay the project, developers Eurowind tried, and succeeded, in addressing the issues.

We have spent the last decade helping developers identify and overcome radar interference issues. Our advice? Consider effects on radar – and aviation – systems early on. If any such impact is identified in the early planning stages, they can be incorporated into the design.

In the case of the Nathro Hill development, where it was known that RAF Leuchars was a concern, our first recommended step would be to contact Pager Power. For convenience, our system allows for multiple turbines. As always, within the commentary would be our tailored advice on how to keep moving forward with your site.
