UK Airport Opposes Wind Turbine Over Radar Concerns

UK Airport Opposes Wind Turbine Over Radar Concerns
November 16, 2012 Amy Sudbury

Reported in Doncaster Free Press, a planning application for a single turbine has been resubmitted to North Lincolnshire council after the first plans were rejected. The objection came from the nearby Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield Airport located at the former RAF Finningley airbase who believe that the 29m turbine will interfere with their radar.

Since the first application the article denoted that the height of the wind structure has already been reduced by 6m in an effort to be hidden from Radar Line of Sight (LOS). The decision on the application is expected to be reached by the middle of December.

Pager Power can conduct a range of aeronautical studies that can help to determine whether your turbines are LOS of a radar installation, methods to mitigate unwanted radar effects amongst other services. Also a Radar Line of Sight Assessment can be run using the Online System.  For more information please email info@pagerpower.co.uk or call us on 01787 319001.
