“Wind Power Electricity: The Bigger the Turbine, The Greener the Electricity?” is the title of a study conducted by Marloes Caduff and colleagues, published in the journal of the American Chemical Society.
The findings indicated that larger turbines result in the production of “greener” electricity due mainly to two things:
- Manufacturing knowledge, and experience is growing, therefore so is building efficiency
- Advances in large turbine design can harness more wind power without huge increases in construction materials.
The report states: “The environmental progress rate was 86%, indicating that for every cumulative production doubling, the global warming potential per kWh was reduced by 14%.”
