The 33% increase in electricity production from renewable sources shows the green committment of the UK. Government figures released in late July 2012 also show that generation from onshore wind increased by 45%, with offshore growing substantially by 68%.
Despite the increase in renewable generation it was not all good news. Findings showed that 2011 saw the UK fossil fuel import reliance hit 36 year high.
Although the UK are taking steps in the right direction, figures show that more needs to be done to decrease the dependence on fossil fuels.
