Reported in Alaska Dispatch, €15.5 million euros has been set aside by the Finnish government to allow the Defence Forces to avoid large wind farms, in the vicinity of Raahe, on the northwest coast of the country, interrupting their military radar systems.
However the radar modification budget does come with a condition: wind farm owners who wish to develop in the area will need to pay €50,000 euros per wind turbine as compensation for the extensive action the military is taking.
