Pager Power entered the East Anglian Daily Times (EADT) Business Awards competition back in January this year. As reported earlier this month, we have been successful in making the final four companies within the ‘Growth Business of the Year’ category, and we are now delighted to announce that we have also made it to the finals in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category.

The Process

As a reader of the EADT, when I saw the winners announced back in 2023, I thought then that we should give the next awards a try. Therefore when the 2024 competition was announced, we duly entered, choosing the two categories named above against which to test our achievements. Of course, the staff were consulted on whether they stood behind us putting the company forward for the ‘Employer of the Year’ category, which luckily they did.

We entered knowing that the nomination process in itself would be a valuable task, allowing us to look back and reflect upon the company’s progress over the last few years. We had no expectations about how far we could go, which makes reaching the final in not one but two categories all the better and something that we are very proud of. Getting this far within a category, which is sure to be hotly contested, is a great achievement, and we look forward to finding out the results at the coming awards evening.

The competition consisted of an initial written application comprising six questions. After successfully making it through this stage, we welcomed two members of the judging panel to our offices for an interview. The panel consisted of two local business leaders who asked us questions about our application and our credentials as ‘Employer of the Year’. The aim was for them to learn more about Pager Power as a company, its people and why we consider ourselves the best employer in the area.

The Final

The final will consist of a black-tie evening, including the ceremony, dinner and drinks. Ten of the Pager Power team will be in attendance to celebrate our successes, and we will be accompanied by those from other companies who have also made it to the finals. Whatever the outcome, it is sure to be a good night out with the team.

The final takes place on the evening of Thursday 4th July, so we will provide an update after this date. With the UK General Election taking place on the same day and perhaps being a foregone conclusion, at least there will be some excitement in the heart of East Anglia when the award winners are announced. Wish us luck!
