My colleague, Harry Watson, and I attended the Onshore Wind Conference that took place in Edinburgh in September this year, which was organised by Scottish Renewables and RenewableUK. The conference lasted two days and it was great to see the excitement about the future prospects of the UK wind industry. We valued the opportunity to catch up with some of our clients, and to speak to like-minded forward-thinking members of the renewable energy industry.
Further to the conference, Pager Power made the decision to rejoin RenewableUK following a several-year hiatus. We feel this is the right time to reinvest our time and expertise into an industry that had, until very recently, been left to stagnate. We are excited about the revitalisation of onshore wind and we are looking forward to succeeding alongside RenewableUK.
RenewableUK is a trade association that supports the UK renewable energy sector through various activities including:
- Hosting industry events;
- Providing news, insights, data and business intelligence, regularly reporting on developments in offshore wind, onshore wind, energy storage and wave & tidal power;
- Collaborating with members to advocate for policies that address challenges and unlock investment in renewable energy;
- Advocating for the renewable energy sector to the public, driving awareness, supporting net zero goals, and highlighting the sector’s benefits.
Membership of RenewableUK will allow Pager Power to be a part of a network of fellow industry innovators, forward-thinkers, and leaders which we are looking to contribute to.
Another benefit of the membership is the ‘EnergyPulse project intelligence database’, which includes details of wind developments in various phases of planning around the UK. We believe this is a valuable resource that we can use in our technical analysis of planning issues for renewable energy developments going forward, particularly when looking at cumulative impacts. Cumulative considerations are and will become more of an important planning issue as more renewable energy developments are constructed, particularly within the environment impact assessment topic areas of aviation, telecoms and shadow flicker.
