JP Morgan’s New Headquarters Set to Become Tallest Tower in Canary Wharf

Plans for JP Morgan’s new headquarters, which proposes to become the new tallest tower in Canary Wharf, have now been agreed with London City Airport.
Plan for Tallest Tower
JP Morgan had first announced plans for their new headquarters in November 2025 and has now reached an agreement with London City Airport regarding its impact on their aviation activity. The plans are understood to be in the final stages before applying for planning permission [1].
Reaching New Heights
Proposed at 265 meters above ground level, JP Morgan’s new headquarters will surpass the iconic 1 Canada Square tower (235 meters), which has been the tallest building in Canary Wharf since its completion in 1991.
The new building will be the third-tallest building in London, behind the Shard, joint with the proposed 1 Undershaft building (309.6m) [2].
London City Airport
Approximately 4km east of Canary Wharf is London City Airport who do not typically follow the standard UK and International physical safeguarding rules for tall buildings. Instead, custom rules have been put in place in order to facilitate the co-existence of tall buildings and safe flying.
The best example of this is the existing 1 Canada Tower implementing a flashing white light, which is explained further here.
Plans for JP Morgan’s new headquarters have been agreed with London City Airport, which were a significant hurdle in achieving this proposal [3].
