Aviation Impact and Risk Assessments

Identify and resolve aviation risks early with robust technical evidence that protects flight safety, keeping your project viable and on schedule.

Why Aviation Impact Assessment Matters

Tall structures such as turbines, buildings, and cranes can affect aviation safety by breaching obstacle limitation surfaces (OLS), impacting radar, or conflicting with flight procedures. Other developments such as solar farms can impact can impact available landing space and cause visual impacts such as glint and glare.

Unresolved aviation concerns can trigger statutory objections from bodies such as the Ministry of Defence (MOD), NATS, or airport operators – resulting in redesigns, delays, or refusal of planning consent.

With over 20 years of aviation experience and more than 1,000 aviation and radar assessments completed globally, Pager Power helps developers address risks early, avoid objections, and maintain planning momentum.

What Our Assessment Provides

Our aviation assessments can be undertaken as a detailed aviation impact assessment, or as a preliminary aviation risk assessment, where the aim is to identify all possible aviation project risks in the early phase of a project’s timeline. Analysis in both reports most commonly includes:

  • Physical safeguarding, to check if your proposed development could pose a collision hazard to aircraft

  • Navigation & radar impacts, assessing potential interference with radar, navigation aids, or beacons

  • Flight procedures & airspace, to valuate impacts on flight paths, approach procedures, and minimum safe altitudes

Our reports include models created using bespoke software, compliance checks, and practical mitigation advice where required – helping stakeholders make informed decisions quickly.

Pager Power has helped us obtain planning permission across the UK

We first appointed Pager Power in 2004 to assess a number of wind farms in North East England resulting in objections being withdrawn by Newcastle Airport. The company has successfully helped us resolve NATS, Royal Airforce, telecommunications and minor airfield issues. Pager Power provides advice and technical analysis, are easy to talk to and deliver reports on time. Pager Power has helped us obtain planning permission across the UK including a range of onshore wind farms in North East England and Central Scotland.
