About Pager Power

Pager Power was established in 1997 by Mike Watson, initially with the idea of developing pager-controlled heating software. Although ahead of its time, the concept laid the foundation for the company’s evolution. Existing expertise in software development opened the door to our bespoke in-house tools for assessing complex interference issues caused by wind turbines – software that we continue to use and refine today.

The story of Pager Power becoming a technical planning consultancy (as we are known today) truly started in 2002. Mike was asked by a friend whether he could assist with a wind turbine radar line-of-sight concern. With ample capabilities, Mike duly obliged, and the rest is history.

Things have come a long way since our first glint and glare assessment. From small beginnings, we soon established ourselves as the world’s leading provider of this service. As a significant marker of this, although not listed below, in 2017, we released our industry-leading Glint and Glare Guidance, now in its fourth edition and widely recognised across the sector.

In 2014, we did the math and discovered that we had worked on over 24% of the UK’s operational wind developments. We are proud of this achievement, and its reflection of our expertise across Aviation and Radar, Telecommunications, and Shadow Flicker assessments.

In 2019, we moved to our current address in the Stour Valley Business Centre in the heart of the Suffolk countryside in the UK. The need for this move stemmed from an increased demand for our services, particularly in renewables, and this led to rapid growth.

In mid-2021, we hit the milestone of delivering services to over 50 countries. Pager Power has become a trusted global consultancy, with technical expertise that adapts across industries and markets. This has seen us providing work in six of the seven continents – though we are not certain if we will ever hit Antarctica!

We have completed over 1500 assessments for solar farms, building developments, and even sculptures. When we first started assessing glint and glare, we never imagined how popular the service would become. It now rivals our aviation and radar expertise as our most sought-after service, and it does not show any signs of stopping.

We continue to expand our services to meet complex planning challenges. Our latest additions – Daylight Sunlight and Right to Light assessments – reflect our commitment to innovation and growth. With well over two decades of experience, Pager Power looks ahead with confidence.
