Wind turbine interference with weather radar

Wind turbine interference with weather radar
February 25, 2013 Admin

Meteorological associations in various countries assess weather conditions; particularly monitoring of rainfall levels, using radar systems operating at high frequencies. Wind turbines can interfere with meteorological radar. Such inteference has been previously observed in many countries around the world.

In Canada, there have been concerns that the Grand Bend Wind Farm could cause interference to the Exeter weather / meteorological radar signals. Environment Canada has concerns for other wind farms that could affect its weather radar stations.

We have undertaken analysis for wind farm meteorological radar interference in many countries and has currently released its latest software that can undertake analysis globally. This includes assessments for weather/meteorological radar and wind turbines. For further information you can contact us on info@pagerpower.com.
