UK turbines produced over 5GW of electricity on the morning of Sunday 3rd February, say the National Grid. This surpasses the country’s wind generation record.
This meant that between 11:00hrs and 11:30hrs over 12% of the UK’s total electricity need was coming from the renewable source, equating to more than 10 million homes. This percentage is very close to the 2020 target of the nation to generate 15% of energy from renewable sources.
Although Sunday’s wind record was a small triumph, to consisently reach the 2020 target the UK will need to implement more renewable energy infrastructure – such as wind turbines and solar panels. Pager Power provide radar, aviation and telecoms planning solutions to renewable energy projects through the use of online tools and support services.
