Wind Farm Development Near a Navy Air Station Base in the USA Approved
April 25, 2012 Admin

It has recently been reported that the Defence Department, the Navy and renewable-energy company Texas Wind Group have signed a memorandum of agreement to allow the construction of an 83 turbine wind development near to the naval air station in Kingsville, Texas.

Previously the Department of Defence (DoD) has objected to the development as they were concerned about radar interference issues caused by the proposed wind farm. This has now been resolved as the Texas Wind Group has agreed to contribute to the cost of updating existing radar systems.

To ascertain whether your proposed wind farm development will have any radar or aviation issues you could run an online risk report (now called the Aviation Risk Assessment). For more information on this report please click here.
