On Tuesday 4th September 2012 UK Prime Minister David Cameron announced a reshuffle which saw a large group of cabinet ministers change roles.
With regards to the environment and energy sectors, the two main changes were as follows:
Charles Hendry, former Energy Minister has been replaced by John Hayes. This change may create worries for wind energy companies since Mr. Hayes has publicly voiced his opposition to that particular renewable source.
The position of Secretary of State for Environment Food and Rural Affairs originally held by Caroline Spelman as now been passed onto Owen Paterson.
Only time will tell how this reshuffle will effect Cameron’s ‘greenest ever’ government.
