Overview
The third edition of Pager Power’s glint and glare guidance will be released in November 2020. The guidance document has been well received since its first edition back in 2017, and we are continually seeking to refine and improve the methodology so that stakeholders’ concerns are understood and assessed appropriately, whilst continually drawing from our experience in over 500 completed assessments in this area to date.
Glint and Glare Guidance Benefits
We have noticed our methodology appearing in various forms within stakeholder guidance documents and through methodologies presented to us at the quoting stage. This is great to see and we hope our guidance has led to a better quality and more comprehensive assessment standard across the industry, all with a more consistent assessment methodology.
Third Edition Enhancements
The third edition of the guidance includes an updated literature review section, with the latest FAA and UK glint and glare assessment requirements. It includes revisions to the advice given for railway signals following feedback from railway stakeholders (regarding phantom aspect illusions) and provides a refined methodology regarding the assessment requirements for both building and solar photovoltaic developments. Additional details regarding the aviation assessment methodology for building developments and the safeguarding of non-typical aviation receptors is also provided within the third edition.
We are always looking for feedback on our guidance, our methodology and our reports. So, as always, please get in touch if you have any questions or comments. Whilst the third edition is finalised, if you require the Second Edition in the meantime, it can be downloaded from here.
