Due to radar impact concerns, developers of the Kentish Flats Extension (Vattenfall) are collaborating with Manston International Airport. If both parties manage to devise a mutually acceptable solution, the construction of the additional offshore wind turbines should commence in 2015.
The extension of up to 17 turbines was consented by the UK Government last week and is planned to be operational by early 2016. The existing offshore development consists of 30 turbines and has total capacity of 90 MW, this will increase by 51 MW if all 17 additional turbines were built.
